These artworks are based on photographs taken by the artist. Using a wood tool rather than a brush, the animals are drawn with paint and calligraphic pens, after which ink washes are applied with acrylic gesso to modify the surrounding values. Finally, the eyes are painted to intensify a sense of the living presence of the animal.
